Educational support for students with health-related needs

Procedures for students with special needs arising from their health condition

Students with special needs resulting from their health condition should apply to the Vice-Dean
for Student Affairs and Didactics to have their health condition taken into account when organising classes and credits/examinations.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. The student submits an application for Individual Study Organisation addressed to the Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and Didactics of the Faculty of Medicine, requesting that their health condition be taken into account when organising classes and credits/examinations, with
a description of how their needs require consideration. The application should
be accompanied by relevant medical documentation (certificates, opinions, assessments),
    in Polish if possible.
  2. The application and attachments should be submitted to CM NCU Centre for Medical Education in English, then the application (without attachments) is translated into Polish
and forwarded to CM Section for Health and Safety and Fire Protection.
  3. The application with an official note from CM Section for Occupational Health and Safety
and Fire Protection regarding the student’s health situation is forwarded by the above-mentioned section to the Support Team for People with Special Needs at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
  4. The Support Team for People with Special Needs at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń sends its opinion together with the original application submitted by the student to CM NCU Centre for Medical Education in English.
  5. The Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and Didactics considers the application and issues a bilingual opinion, taking into account the attached documents, adjusting teaching activities
and credits/examinations as far as possible within the teaching capabilities of the organisational units, while maintaining the required learning outcomes.

Application deadline:

– within 2 weeks after the start of the semester/academic year,

– in exceptional circumstances after the above deadline (sudden illness, change in health status during the academic year).
