Changes in student IDs

We would like to inform you that, due to the requirement to use the new format of the electronic student ID card from 13 July this year (amendment to the Regulation on Higher Education) – ELS cards must now meet the requirements set out for Category 3 public documents.

Consequently, the printing of ID cards based on the old design has been suspended, and most universities in Poland, including the Nicolaus Copernicus University, are currently awaiting delivery of the new cards. The new plastic ELS student ID cards will only be issued once the blank cards have been delivered by the manufacturer.

The expected start date for their issuance is the end of October 2026.

Students continuing their studies
Existing ELS student ID cards remain valid. Renewals will be processed in accordance with the current procedures at the Dean’s Office

mLegitymacja
We encourage all students, including first-year students, who hold a PESEL number to activate their digital mLegitymacja free of charge; this is the primary document confirming student status and entitling the holder to discounts. It can be ordered by logging into USOSweb, under the tab: For students → My studies → mLegitymacja.
